The City of Mitchell wishes to make residents aware of some upcoming dates as the City transitions to single stream recycling.
On December 10th the City of Mitchell will host an informational session about single stream recycling. Members of the public are invited to come to hear about how the single stream recycling process works, and ask questions that they may have about the new program. The meeting will be held at the Corn Palace (located at 604 N. Main) starting at 6:30 PM. The City will have samples of the 64 and 96 gallon recycling bins available to view at the meeting for anyone who may be interested in seeing the size of the new recycling containers.
The City will begin delivering the new single stream recycling containers starting December 16 through January 3rd. The containers will be delivered to all residences as well as any commercial customer that requests the recycling service.
Recycling will be picked up every two weeks on customer's regular garbage collection days. Recycling collection for Monday & Tuesday customers will start the week of January 6th. Recycling collection for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday customers will start the week of January 13th. Any changes to the schedule due to holidays or other circumstances, will be sent out on the City's news flash under "Garbage & Recycling Collection". You can sign up for those updates on the City's website at: https://www.cityofmitchell.org/list.aspx . The City will also be posting additional information as the new recycling program is implemented. You can stay up to date on those items by following the City's website at www.cityofmitchell.org/Recycling or on facebook @MitchellRecycles.
