Frequently Asked Library Questions (FALQs):
How do I get my teen a library card?
Youth under 18 may obtain a library card if a parent or guardian accepts responsibility for the youth’s use of the card. A parent/guardian must sign the registration form for the youth.
How can my teen use a library computer?
Any one under the age of 18 needs to have a Public Computer Use Statement of Responsibility signed by a parent or guardian. Once the form is signed, they can use the computers in the teen room or the main area of the library.
Patrons 11 years or younger will need a responsible caregiver 14 years or older to directly supervise them.
I'm not sure what my teen likes to read. What should I check out for them?
Our library staff offers readers advisory to all ages. We're more than happy to sit down with your teen to help them figure out a book they might like. If you're not able to come to the library, contact Adult Services Librarian Zack North. They'll be able to help you through email or a phone call.
There are tons of book lists available online that might provide some great titles to look at. We suggest looking at our Teen Choice Awards list.
The American Library Association and Young Adult Library Services Association also creates and administers several awards for young adult books. Some of those awards and lists are linked below.
