Calling all artists! Mitchell Public Library is holding an art contest for new library cards. Three winning designs will be selected, one for each age category: youth (up to 12 years old), teen (ages 13-19), and adult (ages 20 and older). Each winner will receive a $75 prize. Winning designs will be used on new library cards. Winners will be announced when judging is completed, most likely in December 2021.

Rules

  • Anyone living in Davison County, anyone attending school in Davison County, or anyone who has a current Mitchell Public Library card may participate in this contest.
  • Participants may submit only one entry.
  • Entries must be submitted between October 1 – 31, 2021.
  • Artwork must be in color, original, and not published elsewhere. Any submission that includes copyrighted materials will be disqualified.
  • Participants must be willing to grant copyright permission to Mitchell Public Library and to consent that submissions may be displayed and/or reproduced without limitation and without compensation.
  • Submissions may be in any art medium (illustration, colored pencil, crayon, pen, paint, photography, graphic design, etc).
  • Digital submissions must have a resolution of 400 dpi or higher and be one of the following formats: .jpeg, .ai, .tiff, .eps, .psd, or .pdf.
  • Physical entries can be submitted to Mitchell Public Library, 221 N Duff St, Mitchell, SD 57301.
  • Digital entries can be submitted to libraryboard@cityofmitchell.org 
  • Entries must be accompanied by a signed entry form including name, address, email address, phone number, and artist’s age category. Do not put name on the artwork itself.
